About the book Reviewing recent developments in the fields of high, intermediate and low energy physics as well as in molecular and solid materials, this book beginning with a detailed introduction, discusses high energy physics with an empirical approach to systematize the vast information on masses and spins, etc. of particles (as well as of nuclei), followed by theories of antimatter, the quarks and the controversial neutrino mass. The physics at intermediate energy deals with hot dense nuclear matter, introducing the concept of multifragmentation. The low energy nuclear physics begins with a discussion of new nuclear mass formula, the ‘halo’ structure of light nuclei at the extreme boundaries (called the drip lines), the structure of hot and rotating nuclei, and the cold nuclear phenomena which deals with the new phenomena of cold fission, cluster radioactivity and the cold synthesis of new and super heavy elements.
For solid materials, fullerenes and nanotubes, the physics of semiconductors and phenomenon of atomic diffusion are discussed. Also, the present status and future possibilities for new electrochromic materials and devices are presented. Finally, this volume presents molecular fluids and the presence of molecular materials in cosmic objects. |
