About the book

Surveying is a branch of Geomatics, focusing on measuring and recording the positions and elevations of the points on the Earth surface. It is an old discipline but it has absorbed fresh nutrition from satellite-based surveying, remote sensing and geographic information science in recent decades. Therefore, this book consists of two parts: conventional surveying and modern surveying. The former discusses the surveying principles and methods using conventional surveying instruments; the latter addresses the principles in geographic information systems, remote sensing and global positioning systems.
